Testissä oli mukana 14 tietoturvaohjelmistoa ja kolme suosittua ilmaista virustorjuntaohjelmaa. Lisäksi tutkittiin tietoturvan tasoa, kun käytössä on Windows Vistan ja Windows 7:n palomuuri
Testitulosten mukaan hyvällä maksullisella tietoturvaohjelmistolla saa parhaimman turvan. Hyvän turvan saa kuitenkin jo ilmaisohjelmilla. Ilmaisohjelmien käyttö vaatii yleensä vähän enemmän vaivannäköä.
